Discovery of fireworks prompts LAPD bomb squad response in Van Nuys

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A bomb squad was called to an apartment building in Van Nuys after Los Angeles police discovered a cache of fireworks Thursday morning.

The discovery was made in the 13900 block of Burbank Boulevard around 9:30 a.m.

It was unknown if any evacuations had been ordered. AIR7 HD video from the scene showed a robot entering the apartment building.

Burbank Boulevard was closed between Hazeltine and Ranchito avenues, police said. The threat was declared over shortly before 2 p.m.

The investigation was ongoing and it was unclear if anything was found or confiscated.
