Just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday a strong storm moved through west suburban Hampshire with heavy rain and pea-sized hail.

We had lightning hit our tree in northwest suburban Des Plaines. It sent shards all over the front lawn. One even landed and stuck in the grass!

CHICAGO -- Several tornadoes were reported northwest of Chicago as severe storms moved through the area Thursday night. One person was killed in Fairdale, Illinois, according to the Illinois Office of Emergency Management.
