VIDEO: Lightning lights up skies in South Bay
Mother Nature put on quite a show overnight, firing off lightning strikes across the skies in the South Bay area.

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Mother Nature put on quite a show overnight, firing off lightning strikes across the skies in the South Bay area.

Sheets and bolts of lightning went off in Manhattan Beach early Monday morning. Lightning was seen in Orange County as well, with strikes spotted in the Newport Beach and Laguna Beach areas Sunday night.

The thunder and lightning moved along toward Ventura County, heading north throughout Monday morning.

A trough of low pressure is bringing monsoonal moisture into our region from the south. This is causing unstable air to move through the area and triggering some thunder and lightning for parts of the Southland.

Residents in northern Los Angeles County, including those in Santa Clarita, Stevenson Ranch and Lancaster, also witnessed a dazzling lightning show over the weekend.
