WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person died and two were hospitalized following a car crash in Westwood early Tuesday morning.

Authorities said just before 2 a.m. a newer model Chevrolet Camaro traveling west on Wilshire Boulevard slammed into a parked trailer.

There were three men who appeared to be in their early 20s inside the Camaro, according to authorities. The right front passenger died in the crash, while the driver and another passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

A man spoke to a security guard who witnessed the deadly crash and had tried to help the victims in the car.

"The security guard said that when they went to go help they could tell that the passenger was dead on the spot. He was screaming for his friend trying to help him and bring him out, but I guess he wasn't fortunate enough to make it," the man said.

Wilshire Boulevard to Beverly Glen Boulevard and east to the next street over was expected to be shut down for several hours.

It was unclear what led to the crash and authorities would not say whether speed or alcohol may be factors. The person's identity was not released.

The investigation was ongoing.
