LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The U.S. women's soccer team celebrated their 2015 World Cup title during a rally held at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday.
The event began at 11 a.m. and was free to the public.

The Americans overwhelmed defending champion Japan 5-2 Sunday for their record third championship and first since 1999.

The 23-player team includes several locals, including Shannon Boxx, a Redondo Beach native who played soccer at South Torrance High School; Alex Morgan, a Diamond Bar native who played soccer at Diamond Bar High School; Whitney Engen, a Rolling Hills Estates native who played soccer at Peninsula High School; Christen Press, a Palos Verdes Estates native who played soccer at Chadwick School; and Amy Rodriguez, a Lake Forest native who played soccer at Santa Margarita High School and USC from 2005 to 2008.
Sydney Leroux, from Scottsdale, Arizona, played for UCLA from 2008 to 2011.
