Southbound lanes of 405 Freeway reopen after deadly crash prompts full closure

WESTWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- All lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway were shut down for hours Monday due to a deadly crash, creating a traffic mess for early morning commuters.

The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. at Sunset Boulevard in the Westwood area, according to the California Highway Patrol. All traffic was being diverted off the freeway at Skirball.

Officials say six vehicles were involved in the collision, including a semi-truck. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
The freeway was closed for several hours before a few lanes were reopened around 7 a.m. By 9 a.m., all lanes were reopened.
