Authorities said the incident started around 7:45 p.m. in the 13500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard. The man refused to leave the bank and it was evacuated.
When the incident started, authorities were told by employees that the man was by himself and was wearing a jacket or vest that had what appeared to be electrical wires protruding from it.
SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene in an attempt to get the man to surrender peacefully.
After about 10 hours into the standoff, tear gas got the suspect to surrender at about 2:30 a.m., authorities said.
No further information was released regarding the suspect's arrest.
