The deadly crash was reported around 2:45 a.m. near the Calzona Street off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators said the driver of the SUV was exiting the 5 Freeway when he or she failed to make the turn and slammed into the concrete barriers. The victims, who have not been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene.
"We just heard the big collision," said a resident who lives nearby. "It happened at around 3:30 a.m. Typically, we hear tires screeching and then accidents. This time, it was just straight on collision."
No other injuries were reported.
