It happened Friday evening along the Angeles Forest Highway at the Big Tujunga Narrows Bridge. When firefighters got to the scene, they found a badly damaged white vehicle and a man trapped in the driver's seat.
AIR7 HD footage showed the vehicle wedged between rocks and the bridge at the bottom of the cliff. It's unclear what caused the driver to veer off the road, but the vehicle fell about 200 to 300 feet below the bridge.
More than a dozen firefighters rallied to rescue the driver, reaching for his hand to get him out. The man was seen pulling himself halfway out of the vehicle as rescuers held on to him.

The car came within a few feet of tumbling further down the mountainside.
The driver, who has not been identified, appeared to be conscious and talking to crews.
Several rescuers rappelled down the cliff, secured the driver in a stretcher and pulled him to safety. He was then airlifted to a hospital.
His condition has not been released and details regarding any possible injuries weren't immediately available.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
