2.6-magnitude earthquake hits Pacoima area, USGS says

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 2.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Pacoima area Wednesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

USGS said the quake hit at around 11:14 p.m. and was about 6.46 miles in depth.

The temblor was approximately 1.6 miles from San Fernando, 3 miles from Sylmar and 9 miles from Burbank.

A map provided by USGS shows the epicenter of the quake was near Whiteman Airport.

The quake was initially listed as a 2.7, but was later downgraded to a 2.6.
