6.6 magnitude earthquake strikes off coast of Taiwan, USGS says; no threat of tsunami

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Taiwan Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck at a depth of about six miles nearly 45 miles south of Hualien City. However, it did not trigger a tsunami warning.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
