Altercation escalates to deadly shooting at Lancaster home, authorities say

LANCASTER, Calif. (KABC) -- An altercation in Lancaster Tuesday left a 54-year-old man shot to death and a 76-year-old man with blunt force wounds to his body, according to authorities.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, one person was shot at a home in the 1100 block of West Avenue J 8. Authorities initially described the incident as a double shooting.

Authorities said it happened around 12:21 p.m.

In an update issued by the sheriff's department, investigators confirmed a 54-year-old man died at the scene.

A second person involved, a 76-year-old man, was transported to a hospital after sustaining blunt force trauma to his upper body when he was hit by a "blunt instrument," authorities said. He is in stable condition.

Authorities said there is no suspect at large.



LASD determined through a preliminary investigation that the men "were involved in an altercation" that escalated and resulted in the injuries.
