West Hollywood pot shop sees more than 23K customers in first month of legal recreational sales

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The first month of California's legal recreational marijuana sales shows that weed is big business, despite the reluctance by local governments to issue permits.

According to the website Mashable, one West Hollywood dispensary saw more than 23,000 customers in January. Revenue was up more than 200 percent over December when the MedMen store was selling just medical marijuana.

West Hollywood allowed recreational pot sales starting Jan. 2, but only under a temporary permit.
