California bill would make 'mouth to snout' resuscitation legal

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A bill California lawmakers say could be the difference between life and death for many pets is making its way through the state legislature.

The measure would make it legal for first responders to administer what's being called "mouth-to-snout" emergency care.

This includes treatment like clearing a blocked airway.

Under current law, firefighters and paramedics are not legally permitted to provide basic first aid to pets in need.
