While they were driving through Southern California rush-hour traffic, they were able at times to maintain speeds over 50 mph by sticking to the carpool lanes and weaving through traffic when necessary.
Eventually they transitioned onto the 215 Freeway in the Inland Empire.
By around 7 p.m. the suspects had pulled off the 215 Freeway and were driving on surface streets in the Muscoy area when a CHP vehicle was able to approach from the side and perform a PIT maneuver, spinning the Mercedes 180 degrees.
Other cruisers quickly surrounded the vehicle and the driver soon surrendered without further incident. Two passengers - one male, one female - also exited and surrendered.
