At least six cruisers surrounded the SUV as the suspect slowly came out after several minutes inside the vehicle. Officers appeared to have used "less-than-lethal" rounds to get the suspect out.
Officers then handcuffed the suspect without incident.
Prior to the arrest, the driver came to a sudden stop at Fernfield Drive and Fulton Avenue in a Monterey Park neighborhood, and it appeared the pursuit was coming to an end. A standoff began as the suspect refused to surrender and several California Highway Patrol officers began descending on the area.

The standoff was brief, and the suspect took off after authorities failed to block the opposite end of the street. From there, the suspect continued driving around the same general area until the successful spike strip attempt.
AIR7 HD was over the pursuit just before 7:30 p.m. as the suspect was fleeing on the 605 Freeway in the San Gabriel Valley, with multiple patrol vehicles trailing close behind.
