The crash happened in the 400 block of Avenida De La Merced shortly before 5 a.m.
According to police, a male driver and female passenger on the motorcycle were heading eastbound on Avenida De La Merced when they lost control. The motorcycle struck a curb, and both people were ejected.
The male driver was transported to Los Angeles County Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. The female passenger had serious injuries but was expected to survive.
The driver's identity was withheld pending notification of kin.
An investigation was ongoing.
