WATTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- One person was killed and another wounded in an overnight shooting at the site of a candlelight vigil in Watts that was held for a mother of four who was allegedly slain by her boyfriend, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of East 104th Street and Wilmington Avenue, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said. Officer arrived to find a large crowd at the scene.

One person was pronounced dead at the location and an injured individual was transported to a hospital in stable condition, according to the LAPD.

No one was in custody in connection with the shooting, police said. A description of a suspect was not available.

The vigil had been held in honor of 32-year-old Albertshay Russell.

Family members said Russell was shot Monday by her boyfriend on Santa Ana Street. They said the couple lived at home with the boyfriend's mother.

The mother apparently called 911 to report Russell's death as a suicide, but Russell's family says she had wounds on her hands that show she did not harm herself.

Russell is survived by four her four children. Her family told Eyewitness News that at least one of the children witnessed Monday's shooting.

A GoFundMe page was created in Russell's honor.

Russell "was a beautiful person inside and out and captured everyone's heart with her vibrant energy," her sister, Antoinette Byrd, said in a statement on the fundraising website. "In your saddest moments, she could lift your spirit with just a simple smile, laugh, or dance."
