LAPD officer shoots, kills dog after 2 workers and officer attacked in Pacoima

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed a dog after he and two others were attacked in Pacoima on Tuesday, according to police.

Around 10:40 a.m. officers with the LAPD Foothill Division were working to clean up a homeless encampment in the 10300 block of Norris Avenue with personnel from the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation and Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

During the clean up, police said a large dog approached and began biting two of the workers and an LAPD officer repeatedly. The officer opened fire, shooting and killing the dog.

The officer, a sanitation employee and a LAHSA employee were all taken to the hospital to be treated. They were all said to be in stable condition.
