CEO and founder Laura Herzog said after years of hosting its usual gala, the nonprofit is opting to go "cowboy chic" in 2025.
Texas country singer-songwriter Coffey Anderson will headline this year's concert-style fete, which will also feature cocktails, dinner and an auction.
"People want to support a good cause. They probably don't want to spend $100 getting that tux cleaned, or spending $300 on that fancy dress," Herzog said.
"We're telling everybody to dust off your cowboy boots, grab those jeans, come out and dance, and have a good time."
The annual awards honor those who help carry forward Honoring Our Fallen's mission to aid families of fallen service members and first responders.
All proceeds from the event support its embrace of those left behind by these heroes on the frontlines.
The Lopezes, who will be honored at the event, know this nightmare all too well.
Their son, 22-year-old U.S. Marine Cpl. Hunter Lopez, was killed in a bombing of the Kabul airport in 2021.
Turning their grief into action, Herzog said the Lopezes have been instrumental in providing relief to families like theirs, with Herman Lopez taking a leadership role in the Flag for Every Hero event.
The event sees American flags placed on the graves of every service member at Riverside National Cemetery each Memorial Day.
"Every day is Memorial Day for families of our nation's fallen, and so it doesn't need to be a day on the calendar," Herzog said. "They want their loved ones to be remembered."
