This year's 5K event is happening on Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at North Hollywood Park.
Free registration is now open for the community event, which includes lunch, a t-shirt, toys and giveaways, and music by DJ Damage.
Coordinator Domonique Paton said Hands4Hope LA has been hosting the event for nearly 25 years as a way to get the community active.
"Seeing the kids out there, off their phones, running around with the activity stations," Paton said, "it's just a great day for the community to come out."
After the 5K steps off at 9 a.m., families can enjoy 20 activity stations around North Hollywood Park beginning at 10 a.m.
With each station visit, Paton said kids can collect stamps that can be redeemed for some pretty cool prizes.
Participants can also enjoy Zumba and yoga classes at this year's event, including an appearance by internationally-recognized instructor and 2020 USA Yoga National Champion Bruce Merkel.
For 26 years, Hands4Hope LA has offered free after-school programs to children from underserved communities in North Hollywood.
The organization aims to improve quality of life for primarily single-parent homes, giving kids access to academic assistance and enrichment activities, from music and art classes, to youth sports, STEM programs and field trips.
