The crash was reported just before 1:30 a.m. Friday along Angeles Crest Highway at Flume Canyon Road near Wrightwood, according to the California Highway Patrol's traffic log. Only one vehicle was involved.
Details about what led up to the deadly incident were not available, but the car rolled into a meadow area. Initial reports indicated that the car plunged off a cliff and that rescuers needed 40 feet of cable to reach the victims.
Four people died and a fifth person was injured.
