4 people hurt in 3 East LA shootings following World Cup celebrations, deputies say

EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Four people were shot across three separate crime scenes in East Los Angeles following Sunday night's World Cup loss by Mexico against England.

The first shooting happened at 9:40 p.m. near Whittier Boulevard and Leonard Avenue. Law enforcement said two people were shot.

AIR7 flew over the scene, where more than a dozen Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department vehicles were seen.

A second shooting was reported just eight minutes later, where one person was shot at Amalia Avenue and 6th Street.

The third incident was a short time later on Amalia Avenue and Whittier Boulevard, where one person was shot.



All four people who were wounded were transported to the hospital in unknown conditions.

So far, no one has been arrested. Investigators noted that there was a crowd in the area for World Cup celebrations.

Sheriff's deputies are investigating whether the three scenes are connected.
