The crash at Indiana Street was reported just after 5:30 a.m. The semi, which was carrying groceries, hit the bridge and toppled over on the freeway.
The incident brought traffic to a standstill during the morning rush hour.
One lane was opened to drivers by 6:50 a.m., but the rest were expected to remain closed for about three more hours.
