Amy Smith "Cultivate Community" t-shirt supports Feed SoCal food drive

The LA artist hopes to spread the power of community and unity.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- "I became interested in art as just a way to zone out." Always drawing, always really interested in just playing, just being playful," stated local artist Amy Smith.

Smith donated her time and talent to design a t-shirt to help support ABC7's Feed SoCal campaign.

She talked about her love of mushrooms and how she used mushrooms as a metaphor for community unity.

"My t-shirt was inspired by my love for mushrooms. I felt like using the mushrooms to represent Cultivate Community t-shirt, for this specific food drive initiative, I thought it was a perfect way to communicate what the power in which community has in sharing and providing for each other," said Smith.

ABC7 partnered with Smile South Central to identify Smith to design the shirt.

Smith mentioned how important and exciting she is to be participating in our Feed SoCal campaign and giving back to the community.



" I find initiatives and causes that I'm really super passionate about, and I am able to provide artwork or t-shirts like this," said Smith.

The mural is located on Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood.



ABC7 will donate its proceeds from the sale of our Feed SoCal merchandise at abc7.com/shop to support SoCal food banks.

"It's really important to me as artist to give back, through my creative process and my artwork. It's the best way that I can use my skills and art to give back to the community," said Smith
