The bicyclist was obeying traffic laws, Los Angeles police said. When he crossed the street at the intersection of Robertson Boulevard and Burton Way at about 9:50 a.m., the first car hit him, causing him to flip forward. That driver stayed and cooperated with police.
The bicyclist ultimately landed in front of a black SUV, which then ran over him and sped off.
"Everyone's screaming, 'Stop. Stop. Don't move,' and was honking," witness Josh Gutierrez said.
A witness of the incident jumped in a car and followed the alleged hit-and-run driver, Gutierrez said. Los Angeles police eventually caught up to the male driver and arrested him.
The bicyclist suffered non-life threatening injuries.
