BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A high-speed collision in Boyle Heights that killed a 77-year-old man was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. Thursday in the area of 4th Street just east of Euclid Avenue.

Police say the driver of a Mercedes-Benz was driving along 4th Street and crashed into the 77-year-old man's Honda as he was attempting to make a left turn.

The video shows the Mercedes crashing into the Honda head-on. The 77-year-old, identified as Jose Trevizo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two injured individuals in the Mercedes are believed to be teens. They were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. It's unknown if they were arrested or taken into custody.

People in the area heard the loud crash and rushed to the scene to help the injured.

"I tried to open the door, but I couldn't open the door, I opened the passenger side and the old man was really leaning over," said witness Connie Lomeli. "I want to say they were probably going like 85 or 90. They were going pretty fast."

Police believe speed played a factor in the deadly collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
