The fire was reported around 7 p.m. Sunday on National Trails Highway near Victorville, according to Battalion Chief Steve Tracy. More than 200 firefighters were on scene the following morning.
At one point, the fire had burned 80 acres.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department said three vacant homes - two of which are mobile homes - were damaged in the fire. The house had apparently suffered damage from a previous fire, officials said.
Structures located between the Mojave River bottom and National Trails Highway have been evacuated though many of the homes are empty, authorities said.
Tracy told Eyewitness News it would take several days for crews to completely extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported.
