LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- New details are coming to light as ABC News learns singer D4vd is considered a suspect in the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas-Hernandez, whose body was found inside the singer's impounded Tesla in September.

Sources familiar with the investigation told ABC News that D4vd is among the suspects who they are looking at, but no one has been excluded.

While the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner has not yet determined a cause of Rivas-Hernandez's death, investigators say her body was dismembered.

Singer D4vd considered suspect in death investigation of teen girl found in Tesla

Based on what they have learned in the case, investigators believe D4vd played a role in her death and got help from others in trying to dispose of her body, sources say.

One source says they are focusing in on certain individuals, and those individuals are concerned now that they know Los Angeles police are focusing in on them.

D4vd is not cooperating with investigators, sources say, and has not cooperated from the beginning, despite what his PR reps have claimed.

ABC News is told investigators still have a lot of work left to do, but there is no hurry because they're being methodical and want to make sure they get it right.

If D4vd is a suspect, can police arrest him now?

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, is a suspect in the eyes of investigators, but not officially under the law because officers don't have the probable cause to make the arrest yet.

What they need is the cause of death from the medical examiner. Officials say that because the body was so badly decomposed, it's taking some time.

Investigators told ABC News' Alex Stone that they expect to determine the cause of death soon, and then things will start moving quickly.

What is the timeline of determining Celeste Rivas-Hernandez's cause of death?

ABC News is told it won't be immediate, but the cause of death may be determined in the next days to weeks.

Why are multiple suspects being looked at?

Sources tell ABC News the process to dismember Rivas-Hernandez's body likely involved more than one person.

Investigators are trying to narrow down what the roles were in the crime.

They are also working to determine if her death was a murder, or if it was something like an overdose, and then the body was improperly disposed of afterwards.

The medical examiner's report will also help determine that.

What do we know about the case?

Rivas-Hernandez was reported missing from Lake Elsinore in early 2024. She ran away a few times and returned before her last runaway in April 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. She reportedly called home at the end of May 2024 and had not been heard from since.

Authorities discovered her body on Sept. 8 after responding to a tow yard near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street in Hollywood.

Officers went to investigate a foul odor coming from the impounded Tesla, which police sources say had been at the lot for two days after it was found abandoned on a public street in Hollywood.

Police located the body inside a bag placed in the front trunk of the Tesla, LAPD sources said. The body was dismembered and in a state of decomposition, sources told ABC News.

The vehicle was registered to 20-year-old D4vd, who has more than 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 3.6 million followers on TikTok, where his songs "Here with Me" and "Romantic Homicide" have gone viral.

D4vd was on tour when the body was discovered and had a stop scheduled in Los Angeles on Sept. 20. The remainder of the tour was abruptly canceled before that tour stop amid the investigation.

In mid-September, detectives executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills Home where D4vd had been staying. Investigators were seen taking evidence, including a computer, from the home. According to the LA Times, the lease on the home had been broken early, and D4vd had moved out.

The exact cause of Rivas-Hernandez's death is still undetermined because the body was badly decomposed, but investigators believe it was a murder that occurred earlier this year.

D4vd made some changes to the ownership of one of his Texas homes last month, Eyewitness News learned.

Records show he transferred his Cypress home, located in the Houston area, to his mother's name on Sept. 23

Officials say deputies were called to the Houston-area home where D4vd's parents live on Sept. 17, but that turned out to be a fake swatting call.
