The chase ended in a lengthy standoff near Los Feliz Boulevard and Serrano Avenue when Los Angeles police slammed into the suspect's SUV a second time and disabled it.
Police forced the driver out of the car around 11 p.m. after officers deployed tear gas inside the vehicle. The suspect was on the ground when multiple officers swarmed him and took him into custody.
During the pursuit, the SUV drove over about six spike strips and damaged all four tires. A police cruiser also performed a PIT maneuver on Hollywood and Harvard boulevards, but the driver was able to continue fleeing at slow speeds after spinning out.

AIR7 was over the chase around 9:30 p.m. as the suspect drove on Hollywood Boulevard while multiple LAPD cruisers followed. There were multiple times the driver would come to a complete stop, but then continue the pursuit.
Police said the SUV was reported stolen.
