CHP shooting shuts down northbound side of 101 Freeway in Boyle Heights

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- California Highway Patrol officers shot a suspect on the 101 Freeway in the Boyle Heights area, prompting the closure of all northbound lanes Thursday morning.

The incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on northbound lanes at 4th Street. The CHP says officers responded to a call of a pedestrian with a weapon, but additional details about what led up to the shooting were not available.

AIR7 was over the scene as officers investigated the scene.

Northbound lanes are expected to stay closed during the investigation. At one point, southbound lanes were also shut down, but they were soon reopened.

The condition of the suspect was not available. No officers were injured.
