Allegedly armed suspect in custody after hours-long barricade at Commerce hotel, authorities say

COMMERCE, Calif. (KABC) -- An allegedly armed suspect was taken into custody hours after barricading himself in a hotel in Commerce, prompting a large response from authorities who surrounded the building.

Sheriff's deputies received a call of a man with a gun at the Travelodge on Telegraph Road around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

AIR7 HD was over the scene where several patrol cars could be seen at the hotel's entrances. Authorities said the suspect peacefully surrendered around 7:40 a.m. Monday.

There were unconfirmed reports that the man had two hostages. At one point during the standoff, a woman was seen walking out of the hotel and talking to authorities, but it's unclear if she was being held against her will.
