Jaqueline Bluthenthal remains devastated over the murder of her son, 50-year-old Damon Bluthenthal.
"I'm the mother whose heart will never mend," she said at a press conference alongside authorities Tuesday.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Damon Bluthenthal's killing.
Bluthenthal was found stabbed to death in a parking lot in Compton on Dec. 29, 2024, according to sheriff's homicide detectives. Sheriff's Lt. Steven De Jong said evidence indicated he was killed elsewhere and his body was later left at that location.
Detectives have not disclosed a possible motive in the killing.
Investigators learned after the discovery of the body that Bluthenthal had been reported missing from his San Pedro home five days earlier on Christmas Eve.
His mother said the loss of her only child has been devastating.
"My son was my baby boy, my only child. No mother should endure the agony of cremation or burying her child," she said. "I miss you so much. I miss you so much, and I'm so sorry that you had to go through what you went through, baby. I'm so sorry."
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous information can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
