Officers responded to the Compton Creek riverbed near Del Amo Boulevard around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
When they arrived, they found two adults with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Further details about the circumstances surrounding their deaths have not been released. Neither of them have been identified.
AIR7 flew over the scene at 11 p.m., where it appeared the investigation was centered around a homeless encampment under the freeway. Multiple officers were seen canvassing the area with flashlights.
