NEW YORK -- Two decades after Miranda, Andy, Nigel and Emily first ruled the world of "Runway," "The Devil Wears Prada" is back, reuniting fan favorite characters and introducing new faces along the way.

Anne Hathaway describes the sequel as "a warm hug in stiletto shoes," calling "The Devil Wears Prada 2" a return to the sharp wit and high fashion that defined the original film. The movie revisits familiar dynamics while expanding the world audiences fell in love with.

Asked to tease his role, Justin Theroux leaned into it. "I'm my favorite thing to play, which is confident and stupid," he said. B.J. Novak joked about how people reacted when he told them he was part of the cast. "Everyone said, 'That's amazing. Are you the villain?'"

Surprisingly, the iconic cast almost didn't come together in the first place. Director David Frankel revealed that Hathaway was not the studio's first choice. "The studio really wanted almost anybody but Anne Hathaway," he said. "It was offered to many other actresses. But thank God. Anne was the first actress I met, and she's the one I embraced from the start."

Anticipation isn't just high among fans. Emily Blunt said her husband, John Krasinski, is obsessed with the original film. "He's seen it like 70 times," she said, recalling how early in their relationship she walked in to find him watching the famous fashion montage. "He went, 'That's my favorite outfit.' He was that much of a fan."

The sequel also nods to how much the world has changed since the first film debuted, especially with social media now shaping fashion and influence. Asked who Miranda Priestly might secretly follow online, Meryl Streep joked, "Miranda would have several of the assistants following people for her." Hathaway quickly added she hoped Miranda would be keeping tabs on Martha Stewart.

As excitement builds, one question remains for longtime fans: what will happen to "Runway" this time around? For that answer, audiences will have to watch and find out.
