Dodgers catcher Will Smith draws fans to Hollywood for celebratory Raising Cane's 'shift'

HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Imagine ordering a Box Combo from Raising Cane's and being served by a three-time World Series champion. Well, that's exactly what happened to a group of lucky customers on Wednesday.

Dodgers catcher Will Smith - who was key in helping the team win Game 7 - took orders and served meals during a celebratory "shift" at the restaurant's newest location on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

Smith set a record for most innings caught in a single World Series with 74, and he helped ensure he wouldn't have to catch a 75th with his solo shot in the 11th.

Smith hit a 2-0 slider from Shane Bieber into the Blue Jays' bullpen in left field, giving the Dodgers their first lead of the night. It was the first extra-inning homer in a World Series Game 7.

"It was crazy," he told reporters. "It was a crazy moment."

Raising Canes donated $100,000 to Smith's Catching Hope Foundation, which works to help underprivileged children with critical skills needed for leadership, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.
