SAN GABRIEL, Calif. (KABC) -- A dangerous high-speed chase ended with a search through a San Gabriel neighborhood on Sunday night.

The police chase started just after 6 p.m. when officers spotted the driver traveling over 100 mph in the Baldwin Park area.

The driver reportedly blew through red and yellow lights and refused to stop for officers.

At one point, AIR7 saw the driver travel over 143 mph, weaving in and out of traffic.

After about a 30-minute chase, the driver abruptly turned off the headlights and veered across all lanes of traffic, taking a sharp exit off the 10 Freeway at New Avenue and losing officers.

The driver then ditched the vehicle and bailed on foot, hiding in a nearby neighborhood off Ramona Boulevard.

AIR7 was above the scene as officers showed up several minutes later and began their search.

The suspect was eventually found and taken into custody by California Highway Patrol.
