The chase began shortly after 4:30 p.m. in Compton.
AIR7 flew over the scene as the driver of a white sedan dangerously traveled on the wrong side of the road at a busy intersection.
The driver then led officers onto the 710 Freeway southbound. They tried to pull a fast one, ditching the white sedan and speeding away in a gray GMC truck.
It's unclear if it was a carjacking or a coordinated maneuver.
The driver exited the freeway at Firestone Boulevard in the South Gate area, skidding off the side of the road.
The driver and a passenger tried to make a run for it, but didn't get very far. They gave themselves up and were taken into custody moments later.
