All lanes reopened on WB 210 Freeway in Azusa after fatal crash leads to massive traffic backup

Updated 1 hour ago
AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fatal crash on the westbound 210 Freeway in Azusa early Wednesday forced the closure of multiple lanes for several hours, resulting in a major backup of traffic.

The collision was reported around 3:30 a.m. near Citrus Avenue, according to a California Highway Patrol incident log.

Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters and CHP officers responded to the scene, where all westbound lanes were shut down and a SigAlert was issued in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

The HOV lane was soon reopened, allowing drivers to crawl past in a single column as the traffic jam grew.

Just before 6:30 a.m., the Highway Patrol announced that all lanes were again open.

The cause of the crash was unknown.
