CARPINTERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fire broke out aboard a natural gas platform about eight miles off the coast of Carpinteria on Monday, forcing the evacuation of over two dozen crew members.

There were 26 crew members on "Platform Habitat" who safely evacuated, authorities said. Two crew members reportedly had very minor injuries.

The fire was first reported just after 7 a.m.

There is no oil on the platform, and instead, it's all natural gas. A 1,000-yard safety zone was set up around the platform in response to the fire.

The U.S. Coast Guard said the fire was under control by 1:30 p.m., and personnel were being transferred back to the platform to conduct safety work.

It's unknown what caused the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
