Fire engulfs apartment building in Beverly Hills, resulting in partial roof collapse

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- A dramatic fire engulfed an apartment building in Beverly Hills on Wednesday morning, resulting in the partial collapse of the structure's roof.

The blaze erupted shortly before 10:30 a.m. at a two-story building in the 200 block of South Rexford Drive, across the street from Beverly Vista Middle School. The campus was placed on a shelter-in-place order.

Firefighters from the Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and Los Angeles County fire departments attacked the blaze on the ground and from atop aerial ladders. Neighboring buildings adjacent to the burning structure were evacuated

The flames made their way through through the attic of the building before being extinguished.

No injuries were reported, according to the LAFD.



The cause of the fire was unknown.
