When officers arrived, they saw him in the middle of the street with his shirt covered in blood and a piece of broken glass in his hand. Police say he refused to comply with their commands and ran straight at one of the officers.

That's when police opened fire.

Sanchez was treated at the hospital for several gunshot wounds, along with the self-inflicted stab wounds, LAPD said.

He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and will be booked after his medical treatment.

Police said no one else was hurt.
