The death of 16-year-old Tioni Theus is among several cold cases included in a renewed $50,000 reward announced by the governor. Authorities discovered Theus' body in January 2022 on the Manchester Avenue on-ramp of the 110 Freeway.
Theus, a straight-A student who loved dance and golf, had been shot to death.

Newsom said the renewed rewards are intended to emphasize the importance of resolving unsolved cases.
"Every family deserves answers and justice," said Newsom in a statement. "These rewards send a message that every case matters, every victim matters, and that we are all working toward increased accountability. If you know something, it is your duty to come forward."
