Evacuation orders downgraded, forward progress stopped on 400-acre Acton brush fire

ACTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A fast-moving brush fire broke out Thursday afternoon in the small community of Acton and burned at least 400 acres.

The Hawk Fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. in the 35900 block of North Trenmar Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

According to an update issued by the L.A. County Fire Department Thursday night, the fire was 6% contained and forward progress was stopped.

One neighborhood was placed under an evacuation order while others were given evacuation warnings.

By 8 p.m. Thursday, two evacuation warnings were in effect, with the orders downgraded or canceled, the L.A. County Fire Department reported.



A shelter-in-place order was issued for the area near Shannon Valley Road and Via Famero Drive.

Earlier in the day, AIR7 captured firefighters conducting water drops as the fire was moving uphill near radio towers in the area.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
