Homeless man leads CHP officers on wild chase in stolen patrol vehicle in NorCal

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (KABC) -- Newly released video shows a wild police chase in Sacramento County involving a man accused of driving off in a stolen patrol vehicle.

The incident began when a caller reported that a homeless man threw a bucket at her car and chased her with a stick, police said.

Officers responded and attempted to detain the man, but he escaped and drove away in a marked police cruiser, authorities said. The California Highway Patrol later took over the pursuit and eventually got the driver to pull over and surrender.

Additional details about the suspect or potential charges were not immediately released.
