DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Hundreds of protesters gathered in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday afternoon as part of the nationwide "Free America Walkout" to mark the start of President Trump's second term.

The protests took place at various locations across Southern California and the nation as part of coordinated actions opposing select Trump administration policies. The campaign was organized nationally by Women's March.

"I just don't know if he's actually done anything that is positive," said Mario Noguera, who attended the protest in downtown L.A. "Everything's been about depleting everything: resources, rights. I just don't feel like we're getting anywhere."

This is expected to be the second major protest of the Trump Administration since the start of the year. The first protest called for an end to ICE raids.

Organizers of the "Free America Walkout" urged people to join them in protest of what they said was a response to "ICE raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, families torn apart, attacks on our trans siblings, mass surveillance and terror used to keep us silent.''

Nearly 100 people gathered for a protest that began outside Los Angeles City Hall then evolved into a slow march through the downtown area, with police keeping a close watch on the procession.

Several hundred people also gathered Burbank's Lincoln Park near the Buena Vista Branch Library at Buena Vista Street and Verdugo Avenue in protest.

More gathered near The Paseo in Pasadena, while other gatherings occurred in Venice, Santa Monica and Long Beach. There were also reports of students walking out of high school classes in East Los Angeles and Montebello.

There were no immediate reports of any arrests in connection with the various actions.

Southern California wasn't the only one that participated.

The "Free America Walkout" was going on from coast to coast. People took part in places like Georgia and Maryland.

The idea was to have as many people as possible leave work, school stores at 2 p.m. and let President Trump know what they think of his actions in year one of his second term.

"We're going to continue to fight back against Trump and ICE and the terror they're unleashing on our communities and we're not going to let them get away with this," said demonstration organizer Maddy Fetzko.

While some are unhappy, President Trump is calling his second term a big success.

"These are accomplishments, we have a lot of accomplishments," Trump said during a White House press briefing Tuesday morning.

The president spent more than an hour and a half talking about his accomplishments over the past year, including the economy, immigration, his tariffs, and his actions in foreign lands like Venezuela and Gaza.

"We've done more than any other administration has done by far, in terms of military, in terms of ending wars, in terms of completing wars. Nobody's seen very much like it," he said.
