HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Search crews on Monday were scanning the water off Huntington Beach for a teen who was swept away while swimming.

The urgent search started Sunday night after authorities say two teens went swimming in the area near lifeguard tower 11. One did not make it back to shore.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department says they were alerted around 9 p.m. Divers and swimmers searching for the teen were pulled out of the water around 10:40 p.m.

The identity or age of the missing teen has not been released.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department was assisting the search with a helicopter and lifeguards from Newport Beach and state parks also provided resources.
