In the film, two fathers are battling over the same spot for their little ones at a preschool. One of the dads is played by Josh Duhamel, who also directed the movie. He says the movie hits close to home since he's a father of two.
"I just went through this with my 2-year-old again," Duhamel said. "We shot the movie right before my my 2-year-old went through this, but I knew enough to know that parents will do anything."
"Preschool" is filled with teachable moments, and those moments are not for the kids.
"We put so much pressure on ourselves and a lot of times project our own insecurities onto things under the guise of doing it for the kids and the betterment of the kids. But the truth is sometimes it's just to make us look good in the eyes of other people," Duhamel said.
"My whole thinking is, let them be kids, let them run around, let them get dirty, let them paint all over their face. There's a lot of strength in letting go, letting the kids go make their own mistakes because eventually they're gonna have to do it anyway," he added.
"Preschool" is now available to rent or buy on most streaming platforms.
