Kim Kardashian rents out Staples Center, throws basketball party for Kanye's birthday

LOS ANGELES -- Getting your friends together for a birthday basketball game sounds like an idea that would appeal to any NBA fan. But rather than heading down to the local park to shoot some hoops, Kim Kardashian celebrated husband Kanye West's birthday in exactly the over-the-top fashion one might expect -- by renting out the Staples Center in Los Angeles, home of the Lakers and the Clippers.


Celebrity pals including Justin Bieber and Tyga, as well as NBA stars basketball stars James Harden, Russell Westbrook, and John Wall, turned out to celebrate West's 38th birthday. Appropriately, the teams were West vs. East.

Kardashian posted a photo of herself with West wearing a blindfold with the caption "Surprise!"

John Legend was on hand to sing "Happy Birthday," and a few of the Laker Girls were there too.




This is not the first time Kardashian and West's grand gestures to one another have involved major sporting arenas. West famously rented out AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, for his October 2013 proposal to Kardashian.
