Lanes shut down for hours at NB 405/101 interchange in Sherman Oaks after truck erupts in flames

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- Lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway connector to the 101 were shut down for several hours Monday after a flatbed truck loaded with hay erupted in flames.

The fire was reported at about 4:30 p.m. at the busy interchange at Ventura Boulevard. It was finally reopened at around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Video from AIR7 showed traffic backed up for several miles up to Santa Monica Boulevard.

The driver of the truck was not injured, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The cause of the fire is unknown.
